A new classroom block was constructed by Jadd Projects on our school site comprising five classrooms and two sets of toilet facilities. This building was completed in 9 weeks, and ready in time for the opening of the school year. This was assisted in no small part by the speed of construction of the Formcraft Insulated concrete walls which were professionally installed in two weeks by their construction team.

With a render coating and corrugated iron on the outside and plasterboard lining on the inside, the Formcraft ICF walls are similar in appearance to other types of finished walls, but there is a distinctively improved internal environment. There are fewer temperature extremes because of the excellent permanent thermal insulation of the walls, and a quieter internal environment because of the enhanced noise reduction qualities of the ICF walls.
We noticed that “the noise reduction and fewer temperature extremes combined with the large rooms provide the ideal classroom and a very effective learning environment. The external finish is excellent in keeping with other buildings in the school.”

I am very pleased to write a few words of introduction for my practice.
Stirling Architects is a small design oriented practice specializing in residential projects. Based in Fremantle, my practice over the years has encompassed the widest possible range of building systems and materials, in worldwide locations. I am pleased to continue the association we have built up with Formcraft and support their impressively innovative yet highly practical approach to cost and climatically effective construction techniques. ICF has many advantages over traditional building techniques and I am sure their market penetration will be extend as appreciation of the Formcraft system grows. From a design point of view, it offers a flexibility and simplicity that is unmatched. The full extent of the Formcraft potential is yet to be tapped.
